Sift User Guide
1. How to Download
Sift is currently available to invited testers. Public sales and downloads are not open yet. An invitation provides access to Sift at no charge during this test period, called the private beta.
Your Invitation and Download
Invitations come through Polar, the service that manages Sift purchases and downloads. The invitation is sent to the email address assigned to you.
Your Telophor customer account contains your Sift download and license key. A license key is the code that allows Sift to run on your computer. Each person needs their own assigned license.
A missing or expired invitation can be resolved by the person who invited you, or by Sift support.
Which Download Is Right for You?
| Your computer | Sift download |
|---|---|
| Mac with an Apple chip, running macOS 15 or later | Mac download, ending in .dmg |
| Windows computer with a 64-bit Intel or AMD processor | Windows download, ending in .exe |
| Linux computer with a 64-bit Intel or AMD processor | Linux download, ending in .AppImage |
Sift is not currently offered for Macs with Intel chips. Support can help identify the right download for your computer.
Before Your First Case
Sift needs an internet connection once, to activate your license. After activation, your case documents and searches work without an internet connection.
The first launch opens Settings. The illustrated activation instructions explain the license-key box and Activate button.
Begin with a Practice Case
Your First Case uses fictional documents. It walks through every step from creating a case to reading a search result.
